entry 5

Carthage In this article, it tells about the lost civilization the Carthaginian  empire ,and it's history before Rome.It tells about Carthage and it's final days and when Scipio took the city. They give a small detail how much fighting  their was during the siege. He said that Scipio spared the 50,000 people inside it, and not just killing them all. After it fell to the Romans, siege engines, warships were burned and offered to the gods Mars, and Minerva. They tell how Carthage become less powerful after every Punic war. When I was reading this article, I found parts of this to be really interesting to me. One of the first things was, I never knew that it's main harbor could hold over 170 ship inside for that time. I knew that Hannibal beat the Romans in a few battles in the second Punic war. I never thought that he almost brought Rome to total defeat. I thing it was interesting that some people believed that the Carthaginians buried some of it's wealth to return to get them. The last part that I found to be amazing,  was that their was a small amount of inscriptions. They help people understand Carthage religious life and  how they people did for work. The type of writing in this written as if the writer got all the information from books and documents.
